Our Winter Wonderland workshops were very busy and a great deal of fun!
Each child was given a flat cardboard box to create their own winter wonderland model. Soft pastels were used to create a wintery sky background and snowflakes added for extra detail. Shredded paper and eco glitter created the snowy ground. We sourced pre cut nets to construct a cosy house. White clay and assorted loose parts were provided for snowmen and reindeer. Each model captured the essence of winter, were unique and full of delightful charm.
To complement the 3D activities, a 2D mixed media activity was organised. Christmas jumpers provided inspiration for these charming pictures.
Jumper templates enabled the children to draw and cut out a paper jumper. Wax resist techniques were used to create cheery, colourful patterns. Using a roller, frosty wintery hues were applied to a sheet of bubblewrap and prints taken. Finally, a washing line was fastened to the reverse of the picture and miniature pegs used to hang the completed jumpers up.
