We were delighted to have Rich Roy from Wildale Forest School come along and support our sessions in Fish Pond Woods!
Rich runs forest school experiences for children and adults in Birstwith woods. He
brought along his boxes of tools, which included hammers, knives, nails and string.
Rich demonstrated how to use the tools correctly; how to hammer nails into wood; how to whittle wood and how to tie and secure wooden frames together.
The children were lucky enough to have the opportunity to light a fire, cook and eat sausages and have hot chocolate for lunch - yum!
After their tasty lunch, the children walked through the woods to the fabulous study barn.
Here they continued their creative explorations using natural materials to print leaves .....
decorate stones with mosaic pieces ......
paint delicate landscapes using watercolours .....
and make leaf crowns ....
We are running more woodland sessions at the end of August, for children of all ages. Rich will be joining us again for more wonderful outdoor learning and creativity. To find out more about Wildale Forest School go to https://www.wildalefs.com/
